The best part about taking up coaching is that I’ve loved seeing riders reap the rewards of their hard work, pushing riders to the national level and beyond.
Since gaining my accreditation, I’ve worked with the club irregularly while I’ve been away at uni. Now that I’ve moved home, I’m excited to get stuck in for a hard off-season with the determined riders at the club.

The best part about coaching is the ability to see riders develop their skills all while having fun with their mates.
It’s been great to see so many riders getting involved in BMX at Norwich Flyers. My passion is teaching basic skills as well as supporting the development of national level riders.

My best achievement within bmx is when I was 2 time world champion in 2011 and 2014 - I'm going for a third this year!
I’ve been part of a few different clubs within the region over the years, but settled with Norwich about 15 years ago! It’s been great to watch riders grow as people.

Best achievement within bmx - 3rd place at the European Championships in Verona, Italy - 2024.

Being at the club since a young age, it’s been great to go from a youngster looking up to the older riders, to becoming the rider the kids now look up to.

One year after joining the Norwich Flyers, I started racing nationally, finishing 15th in 2023 and then 9th in 2024.
I raced last year in America for the World BMX Championship and was planning to go to Copenhagen this July to race for Team GB.

BMX racing has increased my confidence and let me see more of the world.

I wanted to try BMX racing because I was good on my bike. I have good balance. I like to ride BMX on a Saturday because it is fun and I enjoy spending time with my friends. I want to continue for a long time because it makes me stronger. My friends at school are very impressed when I show them my BMX racing videos.

When it’s my birthday, I like to share a cake with my Norwich Flyer friends!

I never tried riding a BMX until two years ago. My brother used to ride and compete in France when we were teenagers. I always thought it was a sport for adrenaline junkies and did not think it was for me at all. Later, I showed the Rio Olympics races to my sons, Fabio and Ennio. Fabio was amazed seeing riders fly over incredible jumps, only using the power of their legs. He wanted to try immediately, and luckily, we were very close to the Flyers track at Sloughbottom.
Fabio joined in October 2019. Ennio followed suit a few years later, and then I joined myself with the wish to do something fun and do a bit of exercise. And indeed, it is intense and a lot more fun than a gym session!

BMX is intense. It is racing, a sprint over obstacles on a bike. I call it “rugby on wheels” as the falls are always so spectacular. But it is great fun, and the people that make the club are truly wonderful. We all call the team our BMX family.

BMX is not just racing. It is a fantastic sport that uses all muscles and joints. It is a great way to do cardio training and something a little bit different to the more standard sports. I encourage anyone who can ride a bike to have a go. You might surprise yourself and get the bug too!

I started BMX racing with Norwich Flyers in 2024, and I’ve loved it ever since. I enjoy doing manuals, jumping, and learning from the older kids.
One of the best parts of BMX is all the friends I’ve made at the track - it is like having a big BMX family! I love getting to travel all around the country to race. The most exciting bit is when the gate drops and I have to pedal as fast as I can.
BMX has taught me to work hard and to never give up. It’s so much fun, and I’m never going to stop!

I started racing because I did a few sessions at the track as tasters and immediately fell in love with the sport. I got my first race bike and never stopped after that point.
Norwich Flyers have given me a reason to stay fit and active over the weekends and other days, and it has given me something to chase and be a part of.

I was introduced to BMX racing by family and friends about 12 years ago when I went down and stayed with them. 10 years later, I was reintroduced.
I can’t imagine not having BMX racing in my life now. I only race at regional levels, but would like to do a few nationals at some point, as I really enjoy the atmosphere and having fun on my bike.

I love riding my bike, and one day we went to try the track at Sloughbottom Park, and there was a Flyers session on at that time… I watched everyone going round, doing jumps and wanted to try it! Now I love BMX.
I like the Norwich Flyers because I can do jumps, and I can race around the track, and I like seeing my friends.

I joined the Norwich Flyers in February 2025 and recently competed in my first regional race. I’ve already learned so much and improved a lot in a short time. I love being out on the track - every session is exciting!
The club has been really friendly and welcoming, and I’ve made loads of new friends who share my love of racing. Being part of the Norwich Flyers makes me proud - and most of all, it makes me happy.
